If you are searching for a limousine in Barcelona, the first decision is not the colour of the car but the group size and the type of evening. A stretch limo is made for a small group and a short, celebratory ride. A bigger crowd, or a plan with many stops, usually calls for a party bus or a minibus. This guide explains how to choose, what the rules say and how to compare the companies listed above.

Limo hire in Barcelona

In short: you hire a car with a driver for a set number of hours, and the price follows the hours, the vehicle and the day. Most limo services work by the hour with a minimum, and add extras such as decoration or drinks.

Fleets vary a lot. According to their own websites, the companies that name vehicles mix limousines, saloon cars, vans, minibuses and, in a few cases, full coaches. Seat counts named across the directory range from 3 to 55, so "limo hire" in Barcelona covers everything from a saloon with a chauffeur to a party minibus. None of the companies in this list states its fleet size on its website, so ask for the exact vehicle when you book.

Which occasion are you hiring for?

The occasion decides the vehicle, the length of the booking and the budget. This table is a practical starting point, not a price list.

Occasion What people usually book What to settle first
Wedding Limousine or classic car for the couple, minibus for guests Exact times between ceremony and reception, waiting time
Hen or stag night Stretch limo or party bus Number of guests, drinks policy, route and stops
Birthday Limo for a few hours Hours, pick-up point, decoration
Airport arrival in style Saloon, van or limo with driver Terminal, flight number, luggage
Corporate guests Saloon or van with chauffeur Invoice details, waiting time, language of the driver

If your plan is a night out with more than eight or nine people, look at party buses and minibuses first. They are sold as passenger transport and can carry far more people than a car-based limousine.

Limousine companies in Barcelona

Our list is built from Google Maps data and the companies' own websites, ranked by rating and number of reviews. Where a company is based matters, because the vehicle has to reach you: 17 are in Barcelona, 6 in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, 2 in Sant Boi de Llobregat, and one each in Rubí, Cerdanyola del Vallès, Premià de Mar, El Prat de Llobregat, Badalona, Santa Coloma de Gramenet and Sabadell.

Only 2 of the 32 mention vehicles adapted for passengers with reduced mobility on their websites. If you need one, say so in your first message. You can read how the ranking works on how we rank.

Our shortlist

We have not ridden with any of these companies. The picks come from the data in each profile, for different needs:

  • Most reviewed: Royal Falcon Limo, in Barcelona, with 4.8 stars over 541 reviews. Google shows it open 24 hours, and its website is in English and lists limousines, saloons, vans and minibuses.
  • Many reviews, weddings: Limusina Barcelona in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat has 4.8 stars over 513 reviews, and its website mentions weddings.
  • Party format: Partybus Bcn has 485 reviews and 4.8 stars, and also appears on Google as a sightseeing tour agency.
  • Top rating, long opening hours: Limusinas Experience has 5 stars from 141 reviews and opens every day from 9 am to 11 pm on Google.
  • Languages and accessibility: Elite Barcelona Transfer is open 24 hours on Google, mentions wheelchair-adapted vehicles, and its website is available in eight languages.
  • Longer track record: Limusines BCN Condal, in Sant Boi de Llobregat, says on its website that it has operated since 2009 and names vehicles of 8, 15 and 50 seats.

What does the law say about hiring a limousine?

In Spain a limousine with a chauffeur is hired as a vehicle with driver (VTC, alquiler de vehículos con conductor). Under articles 180 and 181 of the regulation of the land transport law, only cars can be hired with a driver, with an authorisation for each vehicle and a maximum of nine seats including the driver's. Article 182 says the contract is formalised before the service and that the paperwork travels in the vehicle.

In practice this means three things. A serious company confirms the date, time, route and price in writing. It does not pick you up without a booking. And if the vehicle has more than nine seats, ask which authorisation it operates under, since larger vehicles do not fit this regime.

Can a limousine collect you at the airport?

Yes, as long as the company is authorised and you booked beforehand. Several companies in the list also appear on Google as airport shuttle or chauffeur services, and those open 24 hours can cover early or late flights.

According to Aena, Barcelona-El Prat has a meeting point for pre-booked chauffeur-driven vehicles in the T1 car park, level -1, while ride-hailing apps have their own zones at T1 and T2. Put the terminal and flight number in the booking. For other ways into the city see our airport transfer guide, the Aerobús guide and the private driver page.

What to ask before you book a limo

Use this checklist when two companies seem equal:

  1. Which exact vehicle will arrive, and is there a replacement if it breaks down?
  2. How many hours are included, and what does an extra hour cost?
  3. Is the company authorised to hire vehicles with a driver, and is there passenger insurance?
  4. Are tolls, parking, waiting time and VAT included?
  5. Is a drinks package, music or decoration part of the price, and is it described in writing?
  6. What is the cancellation policy, and what deposit is asked?

Red flags are a price with no hours, a company that will not name the vehicle, and deposits requested in cash without an invoice.

Limo, minibus or private driver?

For up to eight people who want a car-based experience, a limousine or a car with chauffeur works. For larger groups, compare it with a minibus, which usually has more space for luggage and keeps the group together. For business guests, a private driver or a corporate transport service is usually a better fit than a party-style limo. If price is your main worry, read what coach and minibus hire costs first, then use the quote form to get comparable numbers.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a limousine cost in Barcelona?
There is no standard price: it depends on the vehicle, the number of hours, the day and the route. Hourly rates are usually the base, with a minimum number of hours. We do not quote figures we cannot check, so ask for a written quote that states the hours, the vehicle and what is included, using our quote form.
How many people fit in a limousine in Barcelona?
A limousine hired with a driver carries up to nine seats including the driver's, because of the vehicle-hire rules in Spain. Larger party limos and limo buses are sold as minibuses or coaches, so check the seat count in your quote. Our minibus hire page covers bigger groups.
Can a limousine pick me up at Barcelona airport?
Yes, if the company holds the right authorisation and you book in advance. Give the terminal (T1 or T2) and your flight number. Aena publishes a meeting point for pre-booked chauffeur cars at T1. For the full picture see our airport transfer guide.
Is it cheaper to book a limo or a minibus for a group?
For eight or fewer people a limousine or a car with driver can fit, while for larger groups a minibus is the usual choice and often costs less per person. The way to know is to ask for both quotes with the same hours and route, which our form lets you do in one go.
What should a limo quote include?
It should state the date, pick-up and drop-off, hours included, the price of an extra hour, the exact vehicle, waiting time, tolls and parking, and VAT. If a drinks package or decoration is part of the deal, it should be listed. Without these lines two quotes cannot be compared fairly.
